RV Inverters- Make the Most of Your Vacations

RV inverters  serve to convert direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). What this does is create an electrical source that allows you to use any and all of your household appliances and electronics in your RV without having to buy special adapters for each one or have vehicle chargers specifically for their operation. RVs already have a glitzy reputation for providing all the creature comforts of home, but nothing is more luxurious than being able to travel in style and comfort, while also being able to bring along your laptop, microwave, coffee pot, or other electronics from home and use them in the RV while you’re traveling.

You can even find built-in inverters that replace generators and allow for a much quieter and more energy efficient operation of your vehicle along the way.

The trick to choosing the right RV inverters is to find the ones that best suit your needs. For example, you might be best suited to utilize a portable inverter that you can plug into the cigarette lighter or power supply on the dashboard of your RV to operate various devices that use very little electricity. These inverters are perfect for laptops, cell phones, and other small devices that would be useful to have on hand, but don’t require a large-scale inverter. However, if you do a lot of traveling or take a lot of electronic devices and appliances with you on your journey, an inverter that is permanently installed on your RV which supplies large amounts of power might be better for your needs.

Take the time to calculate how much energy that you’ll need to use and that will tell you which RV inverters are the best for you to invest in. For example, you might find it beneficial to use a 1000 watt power inverter if you have a lot of devices that operate on AC power in your RV. You would estimate this by figuring out how many amps each device uses, and then multiplying that by 120 to get the wattage. If you have three devices that use 2.5, 7, and 5.4 amps respectively, you would have a total of 14.9 amps. Multiply that by 120, and you get 1,788 watts that you need to operate your devices. This means a power inverter of at least 2,000 watts is what you’re looking for. Ultimately, as long as you take the time to check out your options, finding RV inverters can be a simple task.
